Dr. Baille and Dr. Goudarzy from our chair had one week visiting at Studio Geotecnico Italiano (SGI) in Milano and at Technical University of Torino (Politecnico di Torino) in Italy.
The aim of visiting was to meet professor Jamiolkowski (Technical University of Torino) and professor Stokoe (University of Texas at Austin) for discussion on the current researches in our chair at RUB and possible cooperation with them in future. Two presentations were done at SGI in Milano for professor Jamiolkowski, his colleagues in SGI and professor Stokoe by Dr. Baille on: "Liquefaction Potential of Sands Containing Fines: From Critical States Soil Mechanics to Engineering Applications" and by Dr. Goudarzy on: "Influence of fines content on wave velocity and maximum shear modulus of granular materials".
After three days visiting at SGI, they went to Technical University of Torino (Politecnico di Torino) to visit department of Geotechnical Engineering at Technical University of Torino. Two presentations were also done in Torino by Dr. Baille on: "Liquefaction Potential of Sands Containing Fines: From Critical States Soil Mechanics to Engineering Applications" and by Dr. Goudarzy on: "The application of equivalent void ratio and state parameter to characterize vs and Gmax in soils containing fines". This visiting was to promote further cooperation of our chair with SGI and department of Geotechnical Engineering at Technical University of Torino.
