MECH2012 was held in Sofia, Bulgaria

The INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ON MECHANICS (MECH2012), dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Mechanics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences , was held in Sofia, Bulgaria, 19th-22nd November 2012. The meeting was organized by the Institute of Mechanics at BAS in cooperation with the National Committee of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Society of Non Destructing Testing, the Bulgarian Society of Biomechanics and the Bulgarian Society of Biorheology.

At the end of the conference, the research work with the title "Application of Metamodeling Techniques for Mechanized Tunnel Simulation" was selected as the best young scientists contribution and a certificate was awarded to Mr. Kavan Khaledi from our chair. The paper was presented in the "Mathematical Modeling and Numerical Simulations" session and it represents the application of special approximation approaches for mechanized tunnel simulation in order to reduce the computation time and cost.
